Again this year we forgot to book many months in advance for Golden week and there is not much availability anywhere now for a hotel or ryokan. What are your plans for Golden Week this year?
I'm sticking close to home with day trips in neighboring prefectures. Some places on my list are Boso no Mura for the antique buildings, Sakitama Kofun Park, and some cycling through some nearby cities.
There's lots of kofun near where I live. The most incredible one is a cave in the only mountain in Ogori–it's only 100 meters high. It is a bit spooky, especially because there are bats that live inside. It's "open," meaning anybody can go and visit anytime. There's a farm road that goes right to it.
Oh thank you for sharing this! it seems so great ^^ apparently some Kofun aren’t open to public to visit so hearing there’a one open and in a cave feels pretty unique 😊
I have two main plans and both are day trips. The first is to go to the Arita-yaki Ceramics Fair and the second is to go to the Fukuoka Dontaku matsuri. I may do a few other small things (I want to see the new Conan movie!), but those are the main things.
Actually, next week, before GW, I'm going to be going to a pottery kiln, one that has a 400-year history, to help with the firing of the kiln. This one is a single-chamber kiln, but later in the year they'll be firing a climbing kiln (nobori-gama) that has four chambers. I'll go help then, too. The 14th-generation heir to the kiln is a friend. I love their work!
i don’t have any special plans because no money to travel
i will visit a botanical garden near my house and do some housework like washing my windows and repainting some tables and chairs^^
