Have you had a positive experience finding and living in a rental property?
I've found rental housing through two agencies that take good care of non-Japanese renters.
Kashiwa Home in Kashiwa City and Best Estate Japan which manages rentals in Kanto.
Do you recommend any real estate agencies?

I had a good experience with my previous apartment (my current one is a shithole but I digress). My boss helped me find it because one of the students was a landlord and man I loved that apartment. The guy was so kind that he bought me a bicycle and a cooker and whenever I had a problem (issues with cockroaches and the drain), he was right there to help me. I was paying a maintenance fee though. I lived there for five years and loved it (until a new neighbour moved in next door). I didn’t have to pay key money nor a cleaning fee either.
All the rooms I've lived in, I found them through Mini-Mini real estate company. Their agent was efficient and polite, no bs or trouble involved. For our current apartment, we first went to a local agency but the experience wasn't satisfying so we signed the contract through Mini-Mini agency 😂
